This week I will be posting yoga poses sketches and write-ups. For all the beginners, who want to get up on the mat but don’t from where to start.
First and foremost I will suggest ladies to stop worrying about body weight all the time. Just make peace with what you have. It simply show how you are growing in all the odds and didn’t find time to focus much on the fitness.
There are three categories of poses: standing, sitting and lying down. Let’s start with standing poses.

Tree Pose

Stand in #Tadasana. Shift your weight slightly on to left foot, keeping the inner foot firm to the floor and bend your right knee. Look straight ahead in front of you at some distant object- a tree on the road, a bird sitting on the tree, a scenery on the wall. Your stare at some object will help you maintain the balance. Slowly, inhale and exhale while you stand. Stand tall and straight. Keep your eyes focused, spine straight.
This pose stretches legs, back and arms.

While you stand, focus on your ultimate goal of life. Stretch your arms upwards to reach the sky. As sky should be the limit. Keep your calm and regain it while you stand. Feel yourself as a tree- calm, steady in all the odds and evens; always giving and not demanding; provide shadow and fruits and not seeking rewards; bearing all the odds/ seasons of life without complaining. Grip your feet strong to the earth. Earth will surely support as you are nothing else but a maati eventually. So, be like a tree: humble, grounded and yet aim to reach the sky. Never leave your roots. Remember Kabir Ji said:

बड़ा हुआ तो क्या हुआ, जैसे पेड़ खजूर |
पंथी को छाया नहीं, फल लागे अति दूर ||

Stretch, strengthen, survive!

PS: Myth about the Vrakshasna/ Tree Pose:
When Sita was abducted by Ravna and kept in an open garden of Ashoka trees for many years. It was her faith, focus, strength and calmness in all the complex situations that kept her determination strong. The tree and  the strong life skills of Sita got synchronised.
